The
blind receive sight, the
lame walk, those who have
leprosy are cured, the deaf
hear, the dead are raised,
and the good news is preached
to the poor. |

Matthew 11:5 ~ |
Losing
one's eyesight is something we
do not often think about. Even
if it should cross our minds,
it is likely that we will dismiss
it with the belief that it can't
happen to us.
But it can and does happen. And
when it happens, and the person
is confronted with the reality
of becoming visually impaired,
depression sets in together with
fears and anxiety about the future.
The Ministry to the Visually Impaired
(MVI) is an outreach arm of Paya
Lebar Methodist Church. It seeks
to help people who are visually
impaired or with low vision, and
their families. While we do not
have answers to every question,
we are here to provide a listening
ear, and to assist the visually
impaired wherever we can. We can
also direct the Visually Impaired
to other organisations which serve
their needs.
Vision
- To
provide visually impaired Christians
with Christian literature and
materials in Braille and other
media so that they can participate
more fully in the life and programmes
of the church.
-
To
share the Gospel through outreach
programmes organised jointly
with other Christian organisations
for the visually impaired.
Services

made available on cassettes, in

Outreach Programmes

How Can I Help?
-
Befriend the visually impaired
in our church. Remember, we
cannot see you, so please
take the initiative to come
and introduce yourself to
us.
-
MVI needs people who can spare
the time to scan, key in and
proof-read books for transcription
into Braille.
-
We also need volunteers to
provide transport and practical
help to the visually impaired.
