My
command is this: Love each other
as I have loved you. |

The
Covenant Family Service Centre (CFSC)
began as a community outreach project
of the Paya Lebar Methodist Church at
Boundary Road in 1987. As a social and
community service, it is an extension
of God’s love to the people around;
to reach out and help families and individuals
in need.
With the redevelopment of the new church
building, the decision was made to move
out to be amongst the people in the
Hougang and Punggol Community.
In April 1996, the CFSC became a joint
project of the Methodist Welfare Services
and Paya Lebar Methodist Church. It
aims to enrich and support the lives
of families in the community through
a wide variety of programmes and services.
The CFSC is staffed by experienced professionals
and services are provided for families
and individuals regardless of their
race or religion.
Programmes
Counselling & Casework
Counselling is aimed at assisting families
and individuals to improve their interpersonal
relationships and helping those who
are facing difficulties to cope more
effectively. Short term financial relief
and food rations are also available
for families in need.
Information & Referral
Information on other community resources
are readily available so that individuals
and families are able to find more sources
of support. Referrals are made where
specialised forms of assistance are
needed, which are not provided by our
Centre.
Family
Life Education
The Family Life Education programmes
aim to equip parents and parents-to-be
with knowledge and parenting skills
to develop their children’s potential
to the fullest. Such resources include
Parent Study Groups, Parent Enrichment
Talks, a library and a newsletter for
parents.
Services
Volunteer Development
Volunteers are valuable to us. Their
contributions make a difference to the
lives of those in need. Thus, our volunteers
are also equipped with the necessary
knowledge and skills for their work.
Services for Children
We provide a wide array of services
for children, with their developmental
needs in mind. A toy, book, video and
computer library, along with reading
and English enrichment classes, are
available for pre-schoolers. Tuition
is also provided.
Youth Work
The CFSC also reaches out to youths
in the community through their schools,
families and peers, with the aim of
providing guidance and counselling to
help them cope with struggles and dilemmas
in their growing years.
Parentline
Parentline Helps Parents
Parentline is manned by professional
social workers. We offer help to parents
who have difficulties managing their
children or relating to their spouse.
